A Cursory Insight Into Spanish Mustangs

By Fabio Garcia

In history, the Spanish Mustang was among the horses that played a big role for it descends from the horses that originated from Spain when the first conquest for North and South America was going on. The colonial Spanish horse is the usual name for this horse, which records an extremely low population in Spain today. People today often confuse this horse with the American Mustang and they have largely domesticated it.

The American Mustang descended from Spanish and feral horses. Feral horses are the horses that escaped from certain protected habitats in western United States and began living in the wild. During the late nineteenth century, the introduction of thoroughbreds and Arabians took place by Morgans.

The Spanish Mustangs are the descendants of various horse breeds that originated from the Iberian Peninsula and got introduced into the Caribbean in the first thirty years of the new world's conquest. These horses therefore directly descend from the Spanish horses that came from Hispaniola in Cuba and other close islands as the Spanish colonized New Spain, called Mexico today.

They should not be confused with the horses widespread in Spain during its Golden Age because that breed is nearing extinction in Spain and is not bred or preserved. From the 16th century onwards Mexico was conquered and the horses moved north by crossing the Rio Grande. The next century saw these horses being stolen and sold by the Native Indians tribes from this region to the tribes living in the Rocky Mountains and also the Great Plains.

The horse was considered really small for farming and was replaced by bigger and heavier horses. The majority of the new horses were introduced into the populations of the Spanish Mustang in order to crossbreed a heftier and sturdier horse.

They did this by introducing the Morgans and thoroughbreds into the wild horses. Two brothers founded the Spanish Mustang Registry Inc. in 1959 for the reason of preserving the population of the Spanish Mustang that remained.

Using two full brothers as the foundation stallions and genuine mares they began crossbreeding. However one of the horses actually escaped with its mares in 1944 and was never captured again. The Spanish Mustang can be used in different fields. It is a very versatile breed and can be used for Polo, showing, driving, jumping or possibly dressage.

Some kinds of Spanish Mustangs are helpful for ranch work and as stock horses in performances. Some horses served the purpose of being cavalry mounts for the U.S.A Army throughout their battles with the Apache Indians. These horses managed the barren terrain well displaying that they were ideal for battle.

The Spanish Mustang horses are of various colors such as brown, black, bay and chestnut. Other colors include grullo, cremello and buckskin. These horses are attractive and they have these colors on their base and patches or white hair on their tops. These hairs and patches create various colors like gray, pure white, paint and the dark spots that have similarity with those found on the Appaloosa breed.

Get Set Up For a Pet Rabbit

By Clare Kinley

You should know a few things before you bring a new pet rabbit into your family. As well as a few supplies that you will need to care for the new pet rabbit you can also go to your neighborhood library and check out some books on basic rabbit care and the supplies you will need.

Some of the supplies you'll need are things like a cage to house the rabbit in or a rabbit hutch. Which you use will rely on the breed but mid size to large rabbit breeds are better kept outside in rabbit hutches so they have lots of room to play around in.

You'll need either a total rabbit pellet or a mixture of a well balanced regular diet for your rabbit. You will need some alfalfa hay or timothy hay for the rabbit daily. You'll also must keep a variety of fresh green plants on hand to feed the new rabbit. Bedding, water bottle and feed bowl, a litter box and some rabbit safe bedding and litter will also be needed. You may also get some rabbit safe toys and gnawing blocks.

All the items mentioned above can be bought at a local pet store or pet supply company. After you have the things on the list set up the rabbit cage and familiarize yourself with how everything works and how much food the rabbit will need daily. You want to be completely prepared to care for the rabbit and teach the younger children in the home how to look after the rabbit correctly.

Most cages and hutches come flat packed so you will have to build it and then put the litter box in it. Then you can attach the water bottle to the cage, it will clip right on the wire of the cage or hutch. Then you need to place some rabbit safe bedding on the cage floor. This is going to help in 2 ways, the bedding will keep the rabbits feet off the wire to help prevent sore feet and the bedding will absorb any rabbit pee while your rabbit learns to use the litter box.

Learn all about guinea pigs breeds

By Alberto Mesa

I love animals. Of all the pets that I have treat, guinea pigs are the gentlest. They do not have a mean bone in their body and it is hard to believe that they were once capable of existing in the wild.

The Spaniards introduced guinea pigs to Europe in 1554. They obtained them from the Inca Indians of Peru who kept them for food from as early as 5000 BC.

These rodent-like pets no longer can be found in the wild. They're also known as cavies. Guinea pigs are extremely timid by nature. They're active in the day time and sometimes during the night. Guinea pigs are extremely vocal and this vocalization plays a significant part in socialization with other guinea pigs and human beings.

Guinea pigs enjoy company. Investigators have counted a minimum of 11 different sounds that guinea pigs make in interacting with each other and their proprietors. Their social nature, temperament and low maintenance make them fantastic pets.

What Guinea Pig Would Be Right For Me?

If you decide to purchase two pigs, make them both immature females. Males are more active than females and grow up larger. They also have more odor. If you purchase a male and a female you will have to have the male neutered or be resigned to endless litters of baby pigs and a shortened female life span. Females can become pregnant as early as two months of age, so it is quite common for them to be already pregnant when you purchase them at a pet shop. If no males are present, there is no need to spay a female. Spaying a female guinea pig is considerably more expensive than neutering a male. Find a veterinarian with extensive knowledge of "pocket pets" to do this. The anethesia technique is quite different from that used with dogs and cats.

Introductory Info About French Poodle Dogs

By Pierre Fontaine

The French bull dog and the French poodle seem graceful, yet provide a sense of pride for their owners with enough features to boast about. Although many trace the origin of the French poodles to France, a few people consider that they might have originated either in Russia or Iberia. Notwithstanding the origin, the people of France chose to elaborate the breed to bring the most recent variant that exists today.

There is a reason for the name of the French poodle. The German word 'Pudelhund' which meant 'water dog' was conveniently cut short to the word 'Pudel' thus bringing the name poodles. At first, the French poodle was used in catching waterfowls, that might have led to the present German name.

Actually, the French poodle has a dense coat of fur on its body. But, hunters clipped the fur so as to make it easy for swimming. Nevertheless, the fur on the legs was not trimmed in order that they helped them keep warm when the cold is severe, and they also served to protect them when they traversed amongst wild reeds. Clipping the fur later turned into the typical attribute of the French poodle. Clipping was done in a variety of styles, based on the owner's taste. Their appearance is also categorized accordingly. It could be interestingly attractive or can be unusually eccentric.

The appearance described as good by some is commented to be poor by another. It is definitely in line with the varying taste of each and every viewer. A typical 'pet ' is allowed to participate in shows only if they have the typical 'Continental' style or the 'English Saddle' style of coat.

The French Poodle comes in three different types; the Toy, the Miniature and the Standard. The only differentiating feature being the shoulder height of the adult. The French Poodle also comes in a multiplicity of colors, black, blue/charcoal, white and apricot among others. They are also made of varied mix of colors though these multi-colored French Poodles are not acknowledged by the American Kennel Club alone.

The peculiar external features of the French Poodle make it possible for an easy identification of the breed. The Toy breed is lower than ten inches high while the Standard breed is fifteen inches or taller. The Miniature breed has a height in between ten and fifteen inches. Each French poodle has lengthy flat ears and holds its head high with an air of dignity. They have brown or black eyes with an explicit expression, and their body is relatively long.

Similar in nature to the Blue French bulldog, the French poodle is a fun-loving and amusing dog with an outstanding intelligence. Additionally, it has a extraordinary sensitivity. It has a tendency to obey and remain submissive and hence can learn tricky actions quickly. Therefore, the French poodle is popular in circuses exhibiting an impressive and splendid display of actions as a star performer. Lots of people who own this dog claim that it is capable of perceiving the meaning of our speech.

The French Poodle gets along famously with all members of a family, from the oldest to the youngest and in fact feels disappointed if left out from family activities. It is somewhat fiercely protective and makes a good watch dog.

For the French Poodle, being active is an absolute must, with a necessary daily walk. They like a good frolic in open spaces, are very attracted to water, true to its derived name. Grooming is also another must. Generally the "lamb" clipping, bringing the coat to look rather like a lamb is preferred since it is easier and cheaper to keep up rather than the more fancier ones that need the services of an outsider. All in all, the French Poodle is an attractive dog that can be reared for its versatility.

Prehistoric Creatures: Vanished from the Earth

By Anthony Starks

What has really happened to the dinosaurs? This would be a question most of us would have asked. Anyone who has observed the blockbuster science fiction film Jurassic Park led by Steven Spielberg would have absolutely wondered what really happened to the dinosaurs. There are numerous facts contributing to their particular rapid extinction. Although a few reasons have been attributed for the extinction, we have been yet to figure out the real fact behind your rapid disappearance of dinosaurs in the earth.

The dinosaurs are vertebrate animals that are discovered to be existed in earth for over 160 trillion years ago. It has been said how the dinosaurs first appeared about our land 230 trillion years ago. According to existing facts it is believed that the dinosaur games regarding kids became extinct by the end from the Cretaceous period, about 65 million years ago. One of the most common reasons being mentioned is that the dinosaurs had become the sufferers of the raining meteors. The actual meteor attack was not fully an incidental function. The attack must have happened suddenly and they might have found it difficult to hightail it from the calamity. Even so the readings of the fossils suggest that the mass extinction was not a rapid process. It would are actually gradual over 15 million years.

There are also beliefs that the dinosaurs must have immersed and drowned in the mass tsunami. The push and the effect from the tsunami are usually unpredictable. Consequently there are chances that this creatures must have disappeared into the water break out as they were at risk of such mass disasters. Yet another saying should go that scarcity with the food led to dinosaurs combating with each other thereby killing each other. The poor ones died associated with hunger an a variety other mammals began eating dinosaur eggs regarding survival. Moreover, additionally, there are chances that the dinosaurs must have fought among by themselves for establishing territorial wins.

The third popular principle is the one that claims that dinosaur names faced a great risk for lives and have been burnt to ashes as a result of the extreme volcanic activity and also the subsequent acid bad weather. They were huge mammals and were unable to get away from the natural disaster. The delayed Cretaceous was a time when many high tectonic action and volcanic action has taken place. Your super continent had been splitting paving approach to new continents, and for that reason global cooling happened. This led to mass extinction.

There is another theory that states that the dinosaurs were hit by a very cold wave through the prehistoric time. Your cold wave should have been resulted from the changes in the earths orbit. Our planet was not very comfortable at that time. So it is been postulated that most of the wildlife in earth such as dinosaurs did not have enough time to travelled pass a thorough development process. There were few hairs over their and they were not able to stand up to the extreme cold climate. Their physical qualities were limited thus could not survive the ultimate weather. So they had been forced to collapse down.

The fact behind dinosaurs' annihilation is still ambiguous. But it's true that the dinosaurs have become a real topic appealing for the movie makers.

A lovely animal like birds will be attracted to bird baths

By Craig U. Russell

If you love wild birds like we do, then you know how important it is to provide them with a drinking and bathing source. Birdbaths can certainly catch the attention of wild birds. Actually, it was in 1970 when we started feeding and caring for these birds. Up to now, we still do. Having these birds, makes living here worthwhile. Everyday, these beautiful creatures grace us with their singing. They even do tricks. There are times when I sit outside and occasionally a bird will perch on my head or knee. We are all a family here and live in an environment of peace. All creatures know they can come here without fear of being harmed - and all creatures know that they must live in harmony with each other. And you know what, it works.

All living creatures drink water, so do birds. However, birds frequently have a tough time finding water. Bathing is one of the necessities of birds to keep them clean and fresh especially when the climate is hot and dry. Dirty feathers don't function as well in flying or protecting against the elements.

First and foremost, find a location that is safe for birds. It must be in a wide open space where they can view everything around them, where they can be aware of predators lurking nearby. Placing a birdbath in or near shrubbery or any place where a predator, be it a housecat or wildcat, is sure to invite disaster. Placing the garden fountain under a tree will provide shade and a place to perch. This makes the bird feel more secure since it is difficult to fly quickly with wet feathers. Birds' waste can contaminate the water so don't place their bird bath under a feeder. Make certain the water in the bird bath is replaced every few days so that the birds can have a clean and fresh supply of water. During summer, the water has to be replaced everyday. Water sitting out in the open or in the sunlight may become stagnant and show signs of algae. Birds will less likely be attracted to a birdbath with filthy water. It would also be difficult to clean. Am I right?

It is wonderful and interesting to watch the birds in the garden fountain. They make a shallow dive in the water just enough to wet their undersides and then splash the water on themselves. I've witnessed birds after taking a bath, they fly, sit on a tree branch and groom themselves. I love watching this process. It seems that the birds are enjoying what they do. Birds have an oil gland at the base of their tails and spread this oil throughout the feathers and make them more durable and water resistant. It is at this time, he also removes any dirt or insects stuck on the feathers.

A puddle is the most natural birdbath. When choosing a birdbath, see to it that it is round or oval-shaped, not more than three inches deep. It must also have a textured surface to provide secure footing. You can add flat rocks or gravel to the bottom if the texture is too smooth.

Different kinds of birdbaths are seen in the market. We like the bird bath that uses solar energy. Birds seem to pay attention to birdbaths that sounds like dripping water. Another type of birdbath is the one that thaws frozen water. During winter, birds will have enough water supply.

The Correct Manner To Train Your Puppy

By Steve Jane

A dog is a man's (or woman's) best friend! Dogs are wonderful pets to come home to at the end of a long day or take for a run around your favorite park. If you want to make your relationship with your dog better, having your dog trained is very important. Below you'll find tips and hints to help you with the dog training process so you and your dog can have a mess free, relaxing and fun time together.

If you are going to dress your dog up for Halloween, don't be too elaborate. After all, your dog won't have any idea why you are doing such a silly thing, and he may be quite distressed or embarrassed by it. Just do something simple like a bandanna or something that will fit easily on his collar. In this way you will not run the risk of having your dog bolt or hide or engage in some other unexpected, potentially dangerous behavior.

A vital part of dog training is to give the animal enough exercise. Dogs need to feel they have a calm and confident leader of the pack, in order for them to feel more secure. When you exercise with your dogs, they learn to follow you and they build their confidence in you as a leader. This helps the dogs to be more responsive to commands, when you train them.

Your dog will thrive on training if you leave them wanting more. Keep your training sessions brief and productive. When you have achieved small goals, cease your training session and your dog will anticipate more. The break from training will only enhance their anticipation and the response you get from your next session will be improved.

One of the most important part of dog training is communication. Make sure you are clear and consistent when you are working with your dog. This includes verbal and body language as well as rewards and corrections. Remember to be aware of what your dog is communicating to you as well. He will let you know if he is having a good day or if he is feeling anxious and overworked.

When potty training a puppy, give him a reward every time he eliminates appropriately. The reward can be a treat, or a simple "good boy". Your dog will learn to associate eliminating in an appropriate place with behavior that you want him to display. He wants to please you and so, will continue to display this behavior.

Establish a standing rule that entering a room means ignoring the dog. Whether it is you, your family or guests, keep the pattern consistent. Do not allow your dog to establish the tone for the room from excitement or mischievous behavior. Anyone who enters the room where the animal is should take command of the room and then interact with the dog if he is calm.

Your dog will react to the tone in your voice, so leave your baggage at the door when you're initiating a training session or even a learning moment. A fight with your boyfriend or the cat dragging in a dead mouse should not result in a stern, cold voice with your dog. Remember: if you dog has not done something wrong immediately beforehand, your interactions should always be positive.

Show your dog that you love them and are proud of them. It's easy in dog training to focus on the negative and try to show your dog that what they are doing is wrong. Make sure that you also work to accentuate the positive and praise them when they are doing well.

In order to properly train your dog you must understand how your actions affect your dog. Self awareness is vital if you want to ensure success with training your dog. If you do not understand how your actions affect others, there is no way you can have success with training your dog.

With the information you have just learned you should now have a better idea of how to train your dog. Now that you've expanded your knowledge form strategies and goals in your dog training efforts, if you aren't meeting your goals, then try switching things up until you find a strategy that works for you.

Four Health Benefits of Having a Pet

By Regina T. Roby

When asked about the first thought that that pops into one's min when thinking about adding a pet to your home, it's unlikely that the improved wellness pets offer would be cited. Typically it's not difficult to target the negative aspects like greater responsibility and cost, the majority of people overlook the intangible rewards like health. Sadly, these benefits aren't obtaining the attention that they deserve as the connection between pet ownership and health advantages continue to get stronger. Lately there's been more information coming to light that shows that the adoption of a cat or dog can provide substantial benefits to one's health. Although there are many, let's look at several of the most compelling.

Owning a Pet Can Combat Depression

Most people should be able to confirm that being around a household pet can boost your disposition and battle depression.Whether stroking one's cat or dog, it can take less than a quarter of an hour to feel less anxious and stressed. Usually, the body experiences actual physical changes by experiencing a diminished amount of cortisol, a hormone affiliated with stress. Also, therapists have been known to propose pet companionship as a way of recovering from depression. Pets provide people with depression unconditional love and a sympathetic, non-judgmental ear that can help them triumph over their condition. Pets certainly provide a benefit to the mental health of their owners.

Dog Owners Are Frequently More Physically Fit

There's no doubt that dog owners tend to be more physically active which derives from the requirements of their pets. Requiring frequent exercise, not to mention bathroom breaks, dogs rely on their owners to give them the exercise they need, whether it's a walk around the neighborhood or just playing a game. As anyone can recognize, taking your dog for a daily 30-minute walk keeps you moving and makes certain that you satisfy the minimum suggestions for healthy physical activity. Alternatively, two 15-minute walks should have a similar benefit, and a game of catch can keep both you and your companion fit.

Cat Owners Have a Lower Risk of Strokes

In a compelling study, researchers have confirmed that the risk of stroke is decreased by 33% for those folks who own a cat. A 2008 study performed by scientists at the University of Minnesota looked at over 4,000 individuals between the ages of 30 and 75 found this surprising correlation. Though a definitive reason has not been determined, it's extensively believed that the behavior shown around cats minimizes factors that promote heart disease, like tension, blood pressure and pulse rate. Some feel that because they are less demanding and vocal than some other types of pets, cats offer a more calming, hypnotic effect that pulls their owners' interest away from more stressful worries.

Pets Can Aid in Eliminating Allergies in Children

Allergies are ordinarily among the biggest concerns when considering if you should bring pets into your home, but did you know that having pets can actually improve a child's immunity and lessen the chance that kids will develop allergies? Researchers have found that when children grow up in a household that has both a dog and a cat, they are far less likely to develop allergies by the time they are 13 years old. This has been found to occur when kids live on a farm with large animals, too. Although scientists have not been able to figure out why this is the case, the reality is that a multi-pet household seems to benefit little ones' health.

While there are lots of excellent reasons to get a pet, enhancing one's health is certainly not one of the primary that come to mind. Ideally, after looking at these few examples, enhancing health will be more highly placed when you consider getting a pet.

Choosing the right cat litter

By Sara Gutierrez

In trying to figure out what constitutes the best cat litter, it would seem that the easiest answer comes from your cat. What does he or she like? What will kitty use, and what keeps your house smelling clean?

You would think it would be easier, but when you arrive at your pet store, there are endless brands and many touting their remarkable advantages. The surest way to succeed is to keep trying until you find the winner.

While making your selection, make note that there are several types of cat litter. The main types are clumping, those that do not clump and then further divided by substrate materials such as clay or natural (eco-friendly) choices.

If you want to be more environmentally conscious then you will want to go for biodegradable litter such as the corn, paper and wood based varieties. Be forewarned, your cat may not like this "new" litter so ease into it slowly.

If you really want to make the change permanent then mix the new litter into your old one little by little at first and as you clean the box, replace with more of your new brand.

One of the favorites among cat parents are the clumping brands because they are easier to clean up after and because there are less lingering odors.

As a reminder, the litter box should be filled to no less than two to three inches for the litter to work the best. In addition, to keep dust and litter scatter to a minimum, add a litter mat beneath your box to help you keep the area clean.

Clay litter is cheap and functional but remember that some do not clump. Most often scooping isn't an option with these types - you have to change the whole pan. In the long-haul this may end up costing more particularly for multi-cat households.

It may be best to steer clear of litter with strong perfumes. Remember that your cat's sense of smell is much stronger than yours. This is also a good idea if you have anyone in your family with allergies as it may just aggravate them.

Prior to the use of clay based litter, folks used to put sand in their litter bins. Due to the discovery of the remarkable absorbency properties of clays, it is the most used because it lasts longer and is available cheaply. For an even better cleaning experience add a litter mat and you will most likely be pleased with your setup.

As always, make sure your cat can always reach her litter box easily without having to travel too far. If you have a new kitten, make sure she is aware of where her box is and keep it close by.

You should always have one bin per every cat in the house to keep your household in great shape.

Choosing The Right Flea Treatment

By Jenson Davies

It's going to depend on a number of different factors when it comes to which is the best flea treatment for your pet. One of the things that you have to think about, for example, is what your priorities are in dealing with the infestation, and another is what kind of pet you have. While the options will be gone through here, it's best to talk to your vet about what is going to be best in your situation.

Chemical Treatments or Natural Treatments?

One of the main decisions that you are going to have to make in terms of what flea treatment to use is whether you want to go down the chemical route or the natural route. They both have their advantages and disadvantages so it really depends on what your priorities are as to which is going to be best.

If you want to get rid of the fleas from your pet as quickly as possible then you are going to have to use chemical treatments. These act quickly and they last for a long time. For example if you feed a tablet to your pet that combats fleas, for quite a while afterwards any flea that bites your pet and sucks up their blood will die from their nervous system shutting down.

There are, however, negative side effects sometimes with chemical treatments though. For example with the tablets, as well as affecting the nervous system of the fleas, it sometimes also affects the dog as well. Or with lotions and sprays, sometimes this results in hair loss.

Due to the potential dangers of chemical flea treatments, some people prioritise making sure that they do not harm their pets with the treatment that is employed. In that case, they have to use natural treatments such as the flea bath. Although that would not be suitable for a cat of course.

The problem with natural treatments, however, is that they don't last as long. So for example after a flea bath there is nothing to stop more fleas from continuing the infestation. And there will probably be plenty in the environment which are going to be ready to do that.

One way in which you can make this determination, if you are not sure which option you should use, is to think about how severe the infestation is. If it is particularly severe then the long lasting relief which a chemical treatment can provide might be worth the risk. Otherwise you might prefer to just give daily flea baths and stay safe.

Flea Control for Your Home

Whichever sort of treatment you choose for your pet though, it is never going to be enough to get rid of the flea infestation altogether. In order to do that you are going to have to carry out a flea treatment for your home as well. That's because when fleas lay eggs, they develop not on the pet but in the environment in which they live.

When it comes to this area as well there are also two different options. In this case though the best choice is quite clear, it is to use pest control operatives to fumigate the area in order to get rid of them all very quickly. Sometimes though people choose to do it themselves, in which case a thorough cleaning regime will be necessary.

The things that you cannot wash you should start off by vacuuming. The best thing to do though is to wash everything that you reasonably can, for example the bedding of your pet. Also your own bedding if your pet ever goes up there. Remember to do the washing at high temperatures.

While vacuuming is going to be a good start as that is going to get rid of all of the eggs, you will have to do more than that to get the larvae. That's because flea larvae are so tiny they can wrap themselves around the strands in a carpet and resist a vacuum cleaner. To be sure of the best results, using a pest control service instead is the best idea.

Every Dog Is A Therapy Dog

By Michele Jarvis Wonnacott

What if we took the time to train our dogs as accurate and fair as if we were training a therapy dog?

What would the result be if we devoted the time in showing the dog what we see from the basement to the shopping mall? What if they were shown how to act and be protected in all situations that they may come across in our everyday lives?

What if we devoted the time and realized that all living creatures - even people - need to learn about life in their own way and at a pace that is comfortable for them? The learning process cannot be hurried. It must be developed. What if we devoted the amount of time needed to enjoy the experience of teaching in a patient and understanding way and used only encouragement to assist the dog when it does not behave?

I bet the dog would be happier, we would be less stressed and perhaps our lives together would be full of fun and new experiences together. Why is it that we require such a high level of perfection from our dogs? Is it because they are a reflection of yourself and if they are disobedient so are you?

In a world that is far from perfect, it is not possible to find excellence in everything including our canines. If you try, it will cause conflict and folly. I ask that you teach your dog the same as if you were training a dog for someone who needs all the special abilities your dog can provide. Be full of pride at your dog's deeds and work out the behavior that is rebellious. When you do this, you will be more satisfied and it will allow you to discover the natural abilities that are part of your dog's personality. Do not demand too much, just teach him regularly until you know how he will respond and he knows how you will respond in all settings. Your dog and you are partners and this means you should understand each other since without understanding you will not have anything.

You are a team a "pack'. You are meant to understand one another, without this you have nothing.
So I invite you to take your time, learn all you can about the breed, their needs, their natural instincts and how best to guide them in our big fancy scary world and just have fun. Look at is as kindergarten to grade 12....then take a peek at college and university before ever giving up.

You just may find that you are having fun teaching your dog, you may find out a whole bunch of new things that you love about him or her. You may find that they make you laugh hysterically or make you want to run or play as well. It's a wide open book people, and they are just waiting for you to turn the pages. Don't get stuck on page one as you will miss the whole exciting, loving plot. At the end of all of this, you may find that you were the student and the dog was the teacher all along. Dive in and train the dog as if he or she is a therapy dog, after all they are...they are your very own therapy dog aren't they.

A Few Reasons To Use Organic Pet Food Now

By Melissa Weinblatt

Many people choose to feed their pet organic pet food. They do not mind paying a slightly higher price because they believe it has many benefits. The benefits include increasing the health and happiness of their animals and supporting a humane treatment policy for livestock raised for food production.

This type of diet has become popular because many people like to treat their pets with the same attention to detail they use with themselves and their children. If they are not willing to eat substances that may be harmful to their own health they do not think they should force their pet to either. And, knowing that some animals are raised to for their pets to eat they would like to ensure those animals are treated well too.

It is widely held that natural foods are the best type of foods. Labels on cans and bags are hard for many people to understand. For some people interpreting what the artificial preservatives are and may do is almost impossible. It is much easier to choose a product that does not have these preservatives and manage the shorter time period they remain fresh.

Sometimes it is necessary to give your animals medicine to treat an ailment or disease. But taking medicine when it is not required is probably not a good idea. Regular dog foods have meat ingredients that have been treated with antibiotics during their lifetime. They also may contain ingredients thought to trigger allergic reactions. Natural varieties in the main do not contain these products.

Lots of people refuse to eat vegetables that have been genetically modified. Genetic modification is usually done to increase production and create more profit for the producers. For the same reason these producers use chemical fertilizers when growing plants. Unfortunately when these plants are used in producing pet products traces of the chemicals can be transferred into what you feed your pet.

The most profitable way to raise animals for meat production is by packing them into cages and lots and feeding them up to get fat as quickly as possible. That is a very different life from the free range life given to animals used in producing organic products. Kindness to all animals is sometimes a reason for people to prefer using natural products.

Finding these types of food is as easy as walking down the right aisle at the supermarket or grocery store. And, you will find a whole lot of organic treats as well. These are great when you are starting to train you dog. Perhaps the simplest way to access this diet for your animals is to order it online and get home delivery.

Feeding your dog, cat or rabbit organic pet food applies the same love and concern you give to your human family and friends. A healthy pet is a happy pet. It can also give you a sense of satisfaction to know you are helping to support good living conditions for livestock.

Big Rabbit Cages - Are They the best Rabbit Cage

By Tanisha Englin

Bunnies tend to be some of the most cherished your pets. Even though, they're not as cheerful and friendly as a doggy, or as playful like a kitten, they're very soft textured and fun to watch. Young children, primarily, like to have a bunnie to be a family pet simply because they find it much easier to manage a bunnie, that as opposed to other house animals, is often held in a rabbit cage.

Bunnie cages come in a couple of basic varieties: solid wood or wire. Although a wooden rabbit cage is much more eye appealing, remember that a rabbit's teeth tend to be developing all the time, and your bunnie won't be able to give up alone from gnawing on the bars and edges of their cage. Therefore, if you tend to be planning to have the bunnie cage for a long period of time, wooden cages may not be the best option for you. This cage type is also more difficult to disinfect properly.

Meanwhile, there tend to be two kinds of wire bunnie cages: one features a plastic tray on the bottom, and the other has a wire mesh tray on the bottom along with a plastic base. These features allow the bunny droppings to fall to the tray, making for easier and faster clean-up. For a rabbit cage with a wire mesh bottom, either a bedding of straw or shredded paper must be placed in the cage, or a solid floor is provided in one section therefore that your bunnie can stand. You do not want your adorable pet to develop "bumble foot," or sores on their feet.

Many new and prospective bunnie owners tend to be sometimes still undecided whether to buy their pet a large cage or just one enough for the bunnie to move around. It is recommended that the cage you choose to purchase (or make if you tend to be handy with tools) should be sufficiently big for your rabbit to lie down stretched out and high enough thus that he does not hit his head when he hops about. There tend to be numerous benefits from providing them the biggest bunny cage you can afford, hygiene being only one of them. Dogs and cats given free roaming privileges in the home can have accidents such as peeing and/or pooping, especially for those who have yet to finish their house training. Since bunnies are usually kept in a cage, they naturally pee and poop in their cage. Thus, you only have to mind one spot in your home.

Remember though that even if you provide your bunny a cage that fulfills all of its needs indoors, rabbits flourish more when they are given a chance to enjoy the outdoors and get some exercise. Safety is important, however, when you being the bunny outside---for the rabbit, your other pets (if you have any), or items that they may chew on. Since not everyone has a fenced yard, runs tend to be thus perfect for just this circumstance. A bunny run will permit your beloved pet to play in the grass yet at the same time prevent any harm from befalling them.

By Luis Trojanowski

Expert Daniel Stevens has written a guide called Secrets to Dog Training. He details the techniques you should train your dog quickly and effortlessly. Numerous various scenarios are handled and, behavioral issues are discussed.

Problem behaviors could be extremely irritating and hard to contend with. Does your dog run outdoors every time the door opens? Does your dog bark the whole time he's outside? Maybe you are attempting to determine a method to stop him from jumping on you. There are numerous behaviors that dog owners have to deal with and try to alter. This could be considered a problem for a puppy but dealing with a developed dog can be even worse. People frequently believe you can't alter a dog's behaviors once it is grown.

The Secrets to Dog Training will teach you how you can deal with an grownup dog to get it obedient and well-behaved. This book dispels the myth which you can't teach an old canine new tricks. It might take lengthier for the canine to re-learn his behavior, but it can be done with patience and consistency.

A dog with behavioral issues will be a challenge to take for a stroll. He will pull around the leash and attempt to dart away when he sees something interesting. By the time you get house, you're exhausted and frustrated. If you teach your canine the proper behaviour when he's on a leash, your walks will be a great deal more pleasant and enjoyable for you personally and your pet.

By no means make use of the phrase "come" when you're mad at your dog or he'll learn to affiliate that with getting into trouble. You'll have difficulty getting him to return to you in any way, even when it's for some thing he will enjoy. The book tells you other methods to get him to respond when he is doing something wrong.

The important thing to getting your dog to obey your commands is ensuring he understands anything you want. Because he does not comprehend human language, he uses tone of voice and body language to create the meaning of a command. When the owner will get frustrated and allows it to replicate within their voice, the dog will be even less likely to know what you are telling him.

By mastering the methods utilized by expert canine trainers, you can educate your dog to become well-behaved and disciplined. The Secrets to Dog Training will show you how to create the skill sets you'll need.

Great Ways Of Training Your Dog With Success

By Carson Holcomb

The pet corrector is a hand held device using a spray method to train dogs from engaging in unwanted behavior. It can be used for the prevention of undesirable jumping, uncontrolled barking and even aggression among other situations. It is utilized by dog behaviorists as well as training specialists in maintaining control for a well behaved pet.

The product is available from online pet shops in the form of a spray can with connected nozzle and filled with an inert gas. Once the nozzle is pressed down during unwanted behavior, a hissing sound is emitted. This sound is a result of compressed air which has proven to stop the animal from continuing to engage in a particular activity that you do not desire.

Technology is based on harnessing the natural response mechanisms of the canine as animals instinctively respond to the hissing sounds. This is a result of a defense mechanism common in snakes and geese in emitting a hiss noise to ward off predators. Your domesticated pet will display the same instinctual reaction in backing away to this sound which deters animals from engaging in a particular activity.

This alternative is a safe and humane method utilized in training pets. Dog behaviorists have suggested combining the pet corrector with positive reinforcement techniques in order to strengthen a desired response. This includes praising the pooch or rewarding with a treat immediately after the deterrent is used.

Your canine friend will soon learn that bad behavior will result in the distracting hissing noise and good traits will be rewarded. This is a process of conditioning in which animals learn certain behaviors through association. A pet will soon recognize that unwanted activity will be punished with the distracting hiss while positive activity is associated with treats and praise.

The pet corrector can be used in controlling both cats and dogs for positive outcomes and does not cause any harm to the animal. Behaviors which can be addressed through this tool include continuous barking, jumping, aggression and stealing. The product has been designed to end the bad habits pets may have become accustomed to and despite every effort, you have been unable to curb the undesirable traits which makes this a great tool for stopping poor behaviors.

This product is readily available and also comes in a 50 ml compact spray can so it is easily mobile. When you are considering going on a vacation with your pets but are fearful of a bad habit spoiling the getaway, the hissing product can be transported within a small bag for convenience. Even those who regularly cycle or engage in evening walks can carry a small can along with them should they be pestered by a stray dog.

A pet corrector is a safe device that utilizes a compressed gas to distract your cat or dog from continuing in behaviors that you do not desire. It is effective as a training tool to prevent unwanted activity. All that is required is the depression of the button at the right moment for successful outcomes.

What You Need To Know About Dog Collars

By Alex Greenwood

This is one of the most common questions people have when they are about to train their dog.

There are many types of collars, leashes, muzzles, and crates, so it is certainly understandable that you may get confused as to which is the best. Today we'll give you a short list of training equipment, along with their uses and what feels best for your dog.

There are lots of different collars available. Choose the one that you feel will work best with your dog.

Flat or Buckle Collar

This type of collar is fit around the dog's neck. These are available in a variety of materials such as nylon, leather, and cloth.

This dog collar is good for basic restraint for dogs that do not pull forcefully on a leash when walking. If he pulls too hard on the leash, he will choke or gag against the force of the collar. If you need to train your dog not to pull on a leach, this is probably not your best collar.

Halter or Head Collar

This collar goes around your dog's neck and muzzle. It works much like a horse halter in that his body will follow which ever way his head is turned.

This collar is good in that it doesn't use force so there is no pain for your dog, but you will have a great amount of control over the direction that you want your dog to go.

The downside of this type of collar is that dogs often don't like it, which may cause them to refuse to walk, or they may try to pull it off with their paws.

Slip Collar

This is a slip collar that looks like a typical dog collar yet it can only be tightened to a certain point. This way, the dog will be comfortable, but it will also give the owner a fair amount of control. This is a very easy collar to fit. It can either be slid over the dog's head, or it can snap around the dog's neck.

An advantage to a Martingale collar is that it can not be easily removed from the dog's neck-even if he is pulling backwards. It has a restricted range of tightness that prevents the dog from choking. However, the Martingale does not work effectively if the dog is a consistent puller.

Choke Collar

This type of collar should only be used for aggression training because the collar tightens around your dog's neck when you jerk it and released when you let up. A choke collar can be quite dangerous if you don't use it properly as you could hurt your dog's neck and cause physical and emotional trauma.

Harnesses

This is a soft device that wraps around your dog's body and has a leash attachment on the top of your dog's back around the shoulders. The harness is different from a collar in that the harness distributes the force of your dog's pulling across his shoulders and chest which are much stronger than his neck. This in turn can allow the dog to pull even harder.

There are several styles of harnesses to choose from, so pick the one that is most comfortable to the dog. The regular harnesses are usually pain-free for the dog and are useful for dogs that have had previous neck injuries or dogs like Pugs who often have neck problems.

Prong Collars

Even though this type of dog collar appears rather barbaric, it is my favorite collar to use when training hard to walk dogs. Regardless of it's looks, it one of the safest types of dog collars. I resembles a choke collar but has evenly spaced prongs on the inside of it that, when pulled creates a pressure around your dog's neck with small pinches. There is no direct pressure put on the trachea and front of neck as there is with a choke collar.

The prong collar doesn't actually hurt them, but it shows who is in control. I don't recommend it for puppies or very aggressive dogs, but it seems to work great when you are trying to teach your dog the proper way to walk.

It is often very frustrating when trying to train your dog to walk on his leash properly. Hopefully with the use of the correct equipment (and a lot of time and patience!) you will have your dog walking like a Kennel Club contestant in no time! In an upcoming article I will take a look at the differences between various leashes, and help you find the right one for your dog.

However, its open cover may not be very suitable when it rains or snows. They're open trailers which gives horses more area to move.

When choosing for the appropriate trailer, consider a lot of factors that may influence the usefulness and suitability of the trailer. This can be a wise action to accomplish prior to spending your money. Consider this as an investment that you will use for some time. Consider value for your money. To make sure the trailer is of good quality, check out the manufacturer. Reputable manufacturers have created an integrity on high quality and customer satisfaction. Pick from the reputable manufacturers within the industry and look at the items which they provide. It is also smart to consult about the features and advantages of their items specifically for those people who're first-time horse owners. Know much regarding the goods so you have choices to choose from. Match the functions of the trailer to the needs of your horse. This will supply a custom-fit trailer appropriate for your horse.

It is also essential that you have a price range in mind. Apart from your price range, know the specific needs of your horse also. This will make it less complicated for you to pick a trailer. If budget is limited, you may choose for a used trailer. There are pre-owned trailers which are still in great condition and are still valuable. Ensure to check all panels and screws for used trailers. There may be unfastened or protruding screws which may hurt the horses when not secured properly.

You owe it to your horse to provide it a good horse trailer. Your horse is a good investment also.

Does Your Dog Have Separation Anxiety?

By Alex Greenwood

Does your dog have serious issues when you have to leave him alone. All dogs miss their loved ones when they leave, but some more problems with this than others. This problem behavior can effect your life and you're dogs life.

If they go over the top when left on their own, they probably have what's commonly known as separation anxiety, which is also common in small children. Here are some ideas to help you both cope when you're away and make it easier.

What are the signs of Separation Anxiety?

There are many signs of separation anxiety including: barking, chewing, defecating, digging, excessive salivating, scratching, and urinating. Chewing, digging, and scratching are signs of your dog trying to "escape." Barking, defecating, excessive salivating, and urinating are signs of anxiety and fear.

Causes of Separation Anxiety

Such causes of separation anxiety include genetics, lack of socialization, lack of training, lack of confidence, mistreatment by a previous owner, extensive confinement, and too much bonding with the owner. As you can see, most of these are the owner's responsibility.

How can you treat Separation Anxiety?

You should start with crate training at an early age to prevent separation anxiety. Don't make a big deal about leaving. If you crate, simply put him in, say goodbye and leave, don't overdue the farewells. When you make leaving an issue you dog will worry about why all the affection suddenly disappeared.

Try and change your leaving routines somewhat. My dogs have caught on to the fact that when I put makeup on, it means I'm probably going somewhere so they hang around and keep an eye on me.

Try changing your dog's negative associations to your behaviors to positive ones. For example, on a weekend, dress for work, pick up the car keys and go outside for a few minutes only, then come back inside and give your dog a treat. You dog will eventually begin to associate you getting ready for work as a positive association rather than a negative one.

Make sure you have plenty of treats and toys in your dog's crate to keep him entertained while you are away. If your dog always knows that he'll have treats when you leave, it won't be as traumatic for him. There are many interactive treat dispensers on the market, which will keep him busy and rewarded at the same time. Before you leave, turn on a radio or television so your dog has some noise. A talk station is more effective than music, because the sound of human voices could comfort him. You could even tape your own voice.

When you return home, don't give your dog any emotion or attention when you let him out of his crate. This will reinforce that being outside of the crate is better than being inside the crate. Let him outside to eliminate immediately.

Like all forms of dog training, you have to have time and patience. In time the Separation Anxiety should lessen. If it doesn't or if he becomes aggressive you should consult your vet who may prescribe a light mellowing out pill. I prefer a small dose of Melatonin which is a natural calming/sleeping aid for humans (check with your yet or pharmacist on the amount that should be given).

It's up to you to pay attention to your dogs behaviors and seek out training methods that will help him overcome his problems. All he really wants is your love and affection.

Dog Urine in Carpets: What to Do

By Dirk Gruenberg

Getting dog urine out of carpet is not always an easy task, and it is not a task that should be taken lightly. Dog urine tends to soak through the carpet and into the padding underneath it.

There are also bacteria in the urine that seep down into the material under the carpet padding. With bacteria and urine in the carpet, and underneath, it can make your whole room smell like dog urine, even if all the traces of the urine are gone.

With that being said, however, in most cases you can successfully remove the smell. Of course, your first course of action after your dog peed on the carpet is to soak as much of it up with paper towels as possible.

The next step is to apply vinegar to the area where the urine was. Put enough on there so that it can soak in. Then wait about half an hour for it to do so. After that, take your paper towels and soak up the vinegar. Then you are ready for the next step.

After the vinegar is sopped up, use a steam cleaner or carpet cleaner over the spot. Be sure to use hot water in the cleaner.

Some carpet cleaners have heavy duty buttons. If yours does, make sure to use it for cleaning the stain. But even if you do not have such a button, just keep going over the stain and it should disappear eventually.

The next step is to simply let the carpet dry. However, you might still smell the urine, so open the windows for about half an hour to allow fresh air to come in - and the smell of the urine to get out.

What should you do if after the 30 minutes you still smell the urine? Well, I am afraid you will have to repeat the vinegar procedure one more time. Then use the carpet cleaner again, and remember to use hot water with it.

After the carpet is dry again and the smell is gone, you can apply some carpet deodorizer, if you wish. And then all that is left to do is to hope that you will not need to clean the carpet again any time soon.
