A Cursory Insight Into Spanish Mustangs

By Fabio Garcia

In history, the Spanish Mustang was among the horses that played a big role for it descends from the horses that originated from Spain when the first conquest for North and South America was going on. The colonial Spanish horse is the usual name for this horse, which records an extremely low population in Spain today. People today often confuse this horse with the American Mustang and they have largely domesticated it.

The American Mustang descended from Spanish and feral horses. Feral horses are the horses that escaped from certain protected habitats in western United States and began living in the wild. During the late nineteenth century, the introduction of thoroughbreds and Arabians took place by Morgans.

The Spanish Mustangs are the descendants of various horse breeds that originated from the Iberian Peninsula and got introduced into the Caribbean in the first thirty years of the new world's conquest. These horses therefore directly descend from the Spanish horses that came from Hispaniola in Cuba and other close islands as the Spanish colonized New Spain, called Mexico today.

They should not be confused with the horses widespread in Spain during its Golden Age because that breed is nearing extinction in Spain and is not bred or preserved. From the 16th century onwards Mexico was conquered and the horses moved north by crossing the Rio Grande. The next century saw these horses being stolen and sold by the Native Indians tribes from this region to the tribes living in the Rocky Mountains and also the Great Plains.

The horse was considered really small for farming and was replaced by bigger and heavier horses. The majority of the new horses were introduced into the populations of the Spanish Mustang in order to crossbreed a heftier and sturdier horse.

They did this by introducing the Morgans and thoroughbreds into the wild horses. Two brothers founded the Spanish Mustang Registry Inc. in 1959 for the reason of preserving the population of the Spanish Mustang that remained.

Using two full brothers as the foundation stallions and genuine mares they began crossbreeding. However one of the horses actually escaped with its mares in 1944 and was never captured again. The Spanish Mustang can be used in different fields. It is a very versatile breed and can be used for Polo, showing, driving, jumping or possibly dressage.

Some kinds of Spanish Mustangs are helpful for ranch work and as stock horses in performances. Some horses served the purpose of being cavalry mounts for the U.S.A Army throughout their battles with the Apache Indians. These horses managed the barren terrain well displaying that they were ideal for battle.

The Spanish Mustang horses are of various colors such as brown, black, bay and chestnut. Other colors include grullo, cremello and buckskin. These horses are attractive and they have these colors on their base and patches or white hair on their tops. These hairs and patches create various colors like gray, pure white, paint and the dark spots that have similarity with those found on the Appaloosa breed.

Get Set Up For a Pet Rabbit

By Clare Kinley

You should know a few things before you bring a new pet rabbit into your family. As well as a few supplies that you will need to care for the new pet rabbit you can also go to your neighborhood library and check out some books on basic rabbit care and the supplies you will need.

Some of the supplies you'll need are things like a cage to house the rabbit in or a rabbit hutch. Which you use will rely on the breed but mid size to large rabbit breeds are better kept outside in rabbit hutches so they have lots of room to play around in.

You'll need either a total rabbit pellet or a mixture of a well balanced regular diet for your rabbit. You will need some alfalfa hay or timothy hay for the rabbit daily. You'll also must keep a variety of fresh green plants on hand to feed the new rabbit. Bedding, water bottle and feed bowl, a litter box and some rabbit safe bedding and litter will also be needed. You may also get some rabbit safe toys and gnawing blocks.

All the items mentioned above can be bought at a local pet store or pet supply company. After you have the things on the list set up the rabbit cage and familiarize yourself with how everything works and how much food the rabbit will need daily. You want to be completely prepared to care for the rabbit and teach the younger children in the home how to look after the rabbit correctly.

Most cages and hutches come flat packed so you will have to build it and then put the litter box in it. Then you can attach the water bottle to the cage, it will clip right on the wire of the cage or hutch. Then you need to place some rabbit safe bedding on the cage floor. This is going to help in 2 ways, the bedding will keep the rabbits feet off the wire to help prevent sore feet and the bedding will absorb any rabbit pee while your rabbit learns to use the litter box.

Learn all about guinea pigs breeds

By Alberto Mesa

I love animals. Of all the pets that I have treat, guinea pigs are the gentlest. They do not have a mean bone in their body and it is hard to believe that they were once capable of existing in the wild.

The Spaniards introduced guinea pigs to Europe in 1554. They obtained them from the Inca Indians of Peru who kept them for food from as early as 5000 BC.

These rodent-like pets no longer can be found in the wild. They're also known as cavies. Guinea pigs are extremely timid by nature. They're active in the day time and sometimes during the night. Guinea pigs are extremely vocal and this vocalization plays a significant part in socialization with other guinea pigs and human beings.

Guinea pigs enjoy company. Investigators have counted a minimum of 11 different sounds that guinea pigs make in interacting with each other and their proprietors. Their social nature, temperament and low maintenance make them fantastic pets.

What Guinea Pig Would Be Right For Me?

If you decide to purchase two pigs, make them both immature females. Males are more active than females and grow up larger. They also have more odor. If you purchase a male and a female you will have to have the male neutered or be resigned to endless litters of baby pigs and a shortened female life span. Females can become pregnant as early as two months of age, so it is quite common for them to be already pregnant when you purchase them at a pet shop. If no males are present, there is no need to spay a female. Spaying a female guinea pig is considerably more expensive than neutering a male. Find a veterinarian with extensive knowledge of "pocket pets" to do this. The anethesia technique is quite different from that used with dogs and cats.

Introductory Info About French Poodle Dogs

By Pierre Fontaine

The French bull dog and the French poodle seem graceful, yet provide a sense of pride for their owners with enough features to boast about. Although many trace the origin of the French poodles to France, a few people consider that they might have originated either in Russia or Iberia. Notwithstanding the origin, the people of France chose to elaborate the breed to bring the most recent variant that exists today.

There is a reason for the name of the French poodle. The German word 'Pudelhund' which meant 'water dog' was conveniently cut short to the word 'Pudel' thus bringing the name poodles. At first, the French poodle was used in catching waterfowls, that might have led to the present German name.

Actually, the French poodle has a dense coat of fur on its body. But, hunters clipped the fur so as to make it easy for swimming. Nevertheless, the fur on the legs was not trimmed in order that they helped them keep warm when the cold is severe, and they also served to protect them when they traversed amongst wild reeds. Clipping the fur later turned into the typical attribute of the French poodle. Clipping was done in a variety of styles, based on the owner's taste. Their appearance is also categorized accordingly. It could be interestingly attractive or can be unusually eccentric.

The appearance described as good by some is commented to be poor by another. It is definitely in line with the varying taste of each and every viewer. A typical 'pet ' is allowed to participate in shows only if they have the typical 'Continental' style or the 'English Saddle' style of coat.

The French Poodle comes in three different types; the Toy, the Miniature and the Standard. The only differentiating feature being the shoulder height of the adult. The French Poodle also comes in a multiplicity of colors, black, blue/charcoal, white and apricot among others. They are also made of varied mix of colors though these multi-colored French Poodles are not acknowledged by the American Kennel Club alone.

The peculiar external features of the French Poodle make it possible for an easy identification of the breed. The Toy breed is lower than ten inches high while the Standard breed is fifteen inches or taller. The Miniature breed has a height in between ten and fifteen inches. Each French poodle has lengthy flat ears and holds its head high with an air of dignity. They have brown or black eyes with an explicit expression, and their body is relatively long.

Similar in nature to the Blue French bulldog, the French poodle is a fun-loving and amusing dog with an outstanding intelligence. Additionally, it has a extraordinary sensitivity. It has a tendency to obey and remain submissive and hence can learn tricky actions quickly. Therefore, the French poodle is popular in circuses exhibiting an impressive and splendid display of actions as a star performer. Lots of people who own this dog claim that it is capable of perceiving the meaning of our speech.

The French Poodle gets along famously with all members of a family, from the oldest to the youngest and in fact feels disappointed if left out from family activities. It is somewhat fiercely protective and makes a good watch dog.

For the French Poodle, being active is an absolute must, with a necessary daily walk. They like a good frolic in open spaces, are very attracted to water, true to its derived name. Grooming is also another must. Generally the "lamb" clipping, bringing the coat to look rather like a lamb is preferred since it is easier and cheaper to keep up rather than the more fancier ones that need the services of an outsider. All in all, the French Poodle is an attractive dog that can be reared for its versatility.

Prehistoric Creatures: Vanished from the Earth

By Anthony Starks

What has really happened to the dinosaurs? This would be a question most of us would have asked. Anyone who has observed the blockbuster science fiction film Jurassic Park led by Steven Spielberg would have absolutely wondered what really happened to the dinosaurs. There are numerous facts contributing to their particular rapid extinction. Although a few reasons have been attributed for the extinction, we have been yet to figure out the real fact behind your rapid disappearance of dinosaurs in the earth.

The dinosaurs are vertebrate animals that are discovered to be existed in earth for over 160 trillion years ago. It has been said how the dinosaurs first appeared about our land 230 trillion years ago. According to existing facts it is believed that the dinosaur games regarding kids became extinct by the end from the Cretaceous period, about 65 million years ago. One of the most common reasons being mentioned is that the dinosaurs had become the sufferers of the raining meteors. The actual meteor attack was not fully an incidental function. The attack must have happened suddenly and they might have found it difficult to hightail it from the calamity. Even so the readings of the fossils suggest that the mass extinction was not a rapid process. It would are actually gradual over 15 million years.

There are also beliefs that the dinosaurs must have immersed and drowned in the mass tsunami. The push and the effect from the tsunami are usually unpredictable. Consequently there are chances that this creatures must have disappeared into the water break out as they were at risk of such mass disasters. Yet another saying should go that scarcity with the food led to dinosaurs combating with each other thereby killing each other. The poor ones died associated with hunger an a variety other mammals began eating dinosaur eggs regarding survival. Moreover, additionally, there are chances that the dinosaurs must have fought among by themselves for establishing territorial wins.

The third popular principle is the one that claims that dinosaur names faced a great risk for lives and have been burnt to ashes as a result of the extreme volcanic activity and also the subsequent acid bad weather. They were huge mammals and were unable to get away from the natural disaster. The delayed Cretaceous was a time when many high tectonic action and volcanic action has taken place. Your super continent had been splitting paving approach to new continents, and for that reason global cooling happened. This led to mass extinction.

There is another theory that states that the dinosaurs were hit by a very cold wave through the prehistoric time. Your cold wave should have been resulted from the changes in the earths orbit. Our planet was not very comfortable at that time. So it is been postulated that most of the wildlife in earth such as dinosaurs did not have enough time to travelled pass a thorough development process. There were few hairs over their and they were not able to stand up to the extreme cold climate. Their physical qualities were limited thus could not survive the ultimate weather. So they had been forced to collapse down.

The fact behind dinosaurs' annihilation is still ambiguous. But it's true that the dinosaurs have become a real topic appealing for the movie makers.

A lovely animal like birds will be attracted to bird baths

By Craig U. Russell

If you love wild birds like we do, then you know how important it is to provide them with a drinking and bathing source. Birdbaths can certainly catch the attention of wild birds. Actually, it was in 1970 when we started feeding and caring for these birds. Up to now, we still do. Having these birds, makes living here worthwhile. Everyday, these beautiful creatures grace us with their singing. They even do tricks. There are times when I sit outside and occasionally a bird will perch on my head or knee. We are all a family here and live in an environment of peace. All creatures know they can come here without fear of being harmed - and all creatures know that they must live in harmony with each other. And you know what, it works.

All living creatures drink water, so do birds. However, birds frequently have a tough time finding water. Bathing is one of the necessities of birds to keep them clean and fresh especially when the climate is hot and dry. Dirty feathers don't function as well in flying or protecting against the elements.

First and foremost, find a location that is safe for birds. It must be in a wide open space where they can view everything around them, where they can be aware of predators lurking nearby. Placing a birdbath in or near shrubbery or any place where a predator, be it a housecat or wildcat, is sure to invite disaster. Placing the garden fountain under a tree will provide shade and a place to perch. This makes the bird feel more secure since it is difficult to fly quickly with wet feathers. Birds' waste can contaminate the water so don't place their bird bath under a feeder. Make certain the water in the bird bath is replaced every few days so that the birds can have a clean and fresh supply of water. During summer, the water has to be replaced everyday. Water sitting out in the open or in the sunlight may become stagnant and show signs of algae. Birds will less likely be attracted to a birdbath with filthy water. It would also be difficult to clean. Am I right?

It is wonderful and interesting to watch the birds in the garden fountain. They make a shallow dive in the water just enough to wet their undersides and then splash the water on themselves. I've witnessed birds after taking a bath, they fly, sit on a tree branch and groom themselves. I love watching this process. It seems that the birds are enjoying what they do. Birds have an oil gland at the base of their tails and spread this oil throughout the feathers and make them more durable and water resistant. It is at this time, he also removes any dirt or insects stuck on the feathers.

A puddle is the most natural birdbath. When choosing a birdbath, see to it that it is round or oval-shaped, not more than three inches deep. It must also have a textured surface to provide secure footing. You can add flat rocks or gravel to the bottom if the texture is too smooth.

Different kinds of birdbaths are seen in the market. We like the bird bath that uses solar energy. Birds seem to pay attention to birdbaths that sounds like dripping water. Another type of birdbath is the one that thaws frozen water. During winter, birds will have enough water supply.
