By Harriett Crosby

When it comes to white Labradors for sale, there are a lot of options for potential breeders to be approached. For future owners, there is nothing wrong with a little extra information. First and foremost, the Labrador Retriever, often shortened to just lab, is one among many kinds of retriever, which is a certain type of gun dog in itself.

One of the things that make this particular variant very popular would be its good tempered and well behaved nature. Such attributes make them very appropriate when serving as companions for specific types of people. Such types would be the elderly and children. Their playfulness and athleticism also makes them quite fun to be around. In some countries, they are one of the most popular registered breeds.

In countries where they are most popular, such as the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia among others, they are frequently utilized as assistance dogs. They are frequently trained to help out the blind. They also act as therapy dogs and may perform some detection and screening for law enforcement and various other agencies.

Speaking of Canada, that just so happens to be the country of their origins, although more on that later. Concerning their size, they tend to vary somewhat between the males and the females. The males grow to be as heavy as forty kilograms or eighty eight pounds. Meanwhile, females would grow as heavy as thirty five kilograms, meaning they are not really that far off.

As far as their height is concerned, the males are more likely to grow taller. The maximum average height for males would be around twenty five inches or so. The females are only slightly shorter at twenty four inches. What these statistics reveal is that there is not a whole lot of differences between the male and the female, at least as far as the sizes are concerned. They also live to be at least thirteen years old.

Historically, this breed has its ancestors traced all the way back to Newfoundland, which is currently somewhere in a province in Canada. The breed that started it all would be the St. Johns Water dog. It emerged initially through ad hoc breeding, which were conducted by the early settlers of the island sometime during the sixteenth century.

The forebears of those dogs are currently not known. However, it is highly likely that they were a random bred mix of Portuguese, English and Irish. The Newfoundland is likely to be the result of a St. Johns breeding with a Mastiff, which was brought to the island by fishermen from Portuguese. The smaller short coated ones were used for retrieval and to pull in nets from the water.

Concerning the colors, these creatures are normally registered in just three colors. One color is black, with different shades of it, then there is yellow, also with different shades, and then finally, chocolate. Supposedly, silver pure breds exist, but there is some controversy regarding their apparent purity.

Concerning the yellow, some of it may fall down to a white like shade, thereby explaining the white Labradors for sale thing. There would be little to no trouble concerning how to find these guys since they are sold nearly everywhere. Anyone from homeowners to even the law enforcement want to get their hands on these things.
