Gift Ideas For Those Who Love Dog Agility

By Cheng Bernhardt

If you have a friend involved in the world of dog agility, you know that they love nothing more than taking their beloved canine companion out on the agility course and practicing new moves. When it comes time to give a gift to this person, you definitely cannot go wrong with a gift relating to dog agility.

For a smaller gift or perhaps something to place in a stocking, consider trinkets such as a keychain, bumper sticker or car magnet that declares one's love for agility. There are quite a few options on the market, and there are also plenty of coffee mugs for agility lovers. T-shirts are another option and you will be surprised how many cute options you can find by simply searching the internet. A tote bag is another good option and there are some that say "I Love Agility," or "My Dog is an Agility Dog," to consider.

Helpful dog gear is always a welcome addition for someone who often is out and about at parks or agility clubs practicing obstacles. A portable water dish is always handy for the dog on the go, and dogs running around an agility course definitely need to stay hydrated. A portable dog tent is another fun option, and this can be a great spot for a dog to rest and stay cool in between agility runs.

Obviously, training for dog agility means that you must use agility equipment, so consider giving your friend a new piece of equipment as a gift. This is a great option if your friend is just starting out with agility and only has a few pieces or belongs to an agility group and has no equipment of their own. One idea would be to take a look at the selection of starter kits available from Carlson Agility, which sells every imaginable piece of agility equipment that you might need. They have about eight different starter kits with obstacles such as agility jumps, pause tables, weave poles, tire jumps and more.

If your gift recipient has a few pieces of equipment already, consider purchasing something to expand their repertoire. For instance, maybe your friend has a pause table, some agility jumps and a dog tunnel. Why not add to the collection and purchase a teeter totter or perhaps a dog agility a-frame? Just take a look at what your friend has and find a piece that will enhance their current obstacles.

Another option would be to purchase some mini agility equipment. These smaller scale obstacles are great for those with small yards or for people who like to train indoors from time to time, such as when it's too cold or rainy. Puppies and, of course, smaller breeds of dog also will use this mini equipment, and Carlson Agility sells just about everything imaginable in full-size and miniature sizes, so check out their selection. They also have gift certificates available which would give your friend the freedom to select whatever best fits their current needs.
