Simple Methods To Become Reputable French Bulldog Breeders

By Carolyn Kennedy

French bulldogs became popular because of their city friendly lifestyles, loving, and low maintenance personalities. Bulldogs are also known for being playful, intelligent, and small, having adorable bat ears, and short muzzles. And since they are now so in demand, a lot of breeders now are taking cheap and irresponsible methods for generating most bulldogs.

These actions are really not considered as reputable. Reputable breeders would put the welfare of the dogs first before their profits. They need to practice the good techniques of breeding, become rigorous on customer interactions, and take good care for these litters. Here are the following simple methods for becoming reputable French bulldog breeders Missouri.

Finding foundation stocks for breeding. Make sure that you have selected the right female. Obtain the healthy one and check if the parents have the health certifications. These certifications will show that they are free from some genetic defects and if they are being with established pedigrees, ensuring they are of quality lineage.

Finding the appropriate stud. Some breeders would prefer on seeking out for services of male dogs instead of owning one. Searching them from dog shows can be so much useful and also from breed publications. It does not matter how you are going to get the male dog, for as long as you know that he came from a reputable breeder.

Breeding a female dog. A veterinary check up is necessary for the mother in order to ensure that she will have a healthy pregnancy. Vaccinations including canine distemper and parvovirus are both important. Check as well if ever she is being free from heart worms and intestinal worms, or any other parasites or diseases. They are also recommended for prenatal supplements like iodine, folic acid, and vitamin E.

Track her fertility cycle. You need to know the right season on when to breed her effectively. You can easily determine that she is in heat because she will start to spot and display an irritable behavior. Bring her to the veterinarian to know if she is already ovulating, and if it is confirmed, do the breeding. At the start of pregnancy, pamper the dog through keeping her well hydrated, well nourished, and clean.

Caring for them and selling them. Set up the whelping box. The box is often rectangular in form and this must be enough for keeping the puppies in. This must be provided with a soft and a clean bedding and as well as source of heat. Always monitor them. Place them in the box together with their mother but be sure to watch over them constantly.

Puppies must be well fed. Right after they are being born, feed them right away with a gap of two up to four hours every meal. Make sure they defecate and urinate properly. French bulldogs do not know how to poo and to pee when born. Mothers need to lick the anuses and genitals of the litters after every mealtime. Some mothers may do this so it will be the breeders to stimulate these by using wet cotton balls then rubbing them to the areas.

Commonly, puppies will be sold when they reach 8 weeks to 10 weeks old. These ages might be enough for them to be well socialized and healthy. However, these may still be young enough for having some attachment problems such as adjusting to their new home. But before this, they should be taken to the veterinary to ensure the puppies are healthy and are free from defects.
