Things To Know Concerning A Purebred Cavachon Dog Breeder

By Christine Russell

The Cavachon dog is a hybrid dog that resulted from crossing two purebreeds. They resulted from crossing Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Bichon Frise. They were developed in 1996 and have since been classified under the growing list of designer dogs. The kind nature and adorable looks of the dog has made it very popular in Minneapolis MN. For that reason, when in need of purebred Cavachon dog Breeder, Minneapolis is a good place to go.

The Cavachon dogs are at times called by the name Cavachons. They are categorized under designer dogs and like all other designer dogs, no International Kennel Club recognizes them as a breed. However, fanatics create breed registries for them to support and make them more popular. Understanding the parents is a better way of understanding these dogs. They inherit a lot from their original parents.

Like any hybrid dog, Cavachons were produced for the main purpose of bringing out certain desirable features in the parents. In most cases, they are produced as first generation dogs. That implies that the parents are both purebred dogs. However, it is common to find second generation Cavachons produced from Cavachon parents. Even so, the resultant Cavachon cannot be considered as a pure breed.

Cavachons were bred with the general goal of producing puppies that are hypo-allergenic and do not shed hair. In addition to that goal, they were also bred to produce puppies of specific coloring and size. The size of parents usually determines the size of the resultant puppies. Height of the puppies is one of the physical aspects that is more dependent on the parents than other features.

The height of Cavachons varies a lot. Some are tall and others are very short. The size reduces as one moves from the first generation onwards. The length lies between 9 and 19 inches. Their weight also varies with males being heavier compared to females. Males can weigh from 16 pounds to 25 pounds while females weight from 12 pounds to 20 pounds. Further research led to the development of toy versions of the hybrid.

The character of Cavachons have made them very popular and sought after by many people. The dogs are very intelligent and gentle in nature. They like to play, which makes them a perfect dog for families, particularly in households with children. They like playing with children a lot. The animals also do well with other pets and dogs. For instance, they are cat-friendly, which makes them coexist with cats without problems.

The high level of intelligence makes training quite easy. When training starts early in life, they learn quickly and master commands with ease. Cavachons like barking when they see strangers or strange animals. However, they are not reliable watchdogs. Hence one should not rely on them to provide security or guard property or anything for that matter.

In general, Cavachons have good health. Most of the health conditions that affect other breeds do not affect them. Before buying a puppy, it is advisable to carry out an investigation about its parentage. The investigation will inform one of the kinds of health problems to expect. This is important because health problems that affect parents are often inherited by Cavachon puppies.
