Prior To Your Labradoodle Chicago Dealer Visit

By Frank Davis

It is high time that you go out and get a pet, and you may be in the market for one. Many of your friends and mates have convinced you to go down and visit the nearest labradoodle Chicago dealer. Prior to your visit though, make sure you know more about this breed by reading on in this article.

1988 was the basic birth year of this mixed breed. The breed is a mix of two other popular breeds being a poodle and a Labrador. It is a fairly young breed in relative terms and it still has to be determined if it is deserving of its own breed status or not.

Regarding its parent lines, the labradoodle is derived from two working breeds. The Labrador was bred as a working dog tasked with retrieving things and items that fell off boats usually, most likely tackle and supplies. On the other hand, the poodle was bred for herding and guarding purposes on the farm. Later on these two were later bred for sporting purposes, with mixed reactions from the canine community.

As it is still a fairly young breed when compared to most, uniformity of behavior is basically hard to establish across time. However, it has been somewhat surmised that they are very enthusiastic in whatever they do and are always willing to please. They also possess a lot of energy and thus will definitely need a lot of space to move around in.

The health of this breed is fairly robust, but it is still a good idea to bring it to the vet once in a while for health checkups and of course maintenance. It should not give you too much of a problem when it is still young, but it will get its share of joint and hip problems as it does get older.

Once you do decide on getting a puppy of this breed, you will end up with either two kinds of coats or fur. This will be either a wavy wool coat that is thicker, or a thinner and less wavy fleece coat. The wavy wool coat will need more in terms of maintenance and will need to be groomed regularly. For the fleece type of wool, regular brushing is on the agenda as it is prone to matting and tangling.

This dog, since bred from a cross between two working breeds, is one that will require a lot of energy and protein. Protein and fat sources are best derived from chicken and meat products, while other sources can also be had from grains and plants. For the latter it is best to ask from you veterinarian the best kind of alternative source mixes for proteins. Always keep your dog away from foods such as chocolates, grapes and cherries.

In sum, this write up has shown some good background information on this kind of dog. Do also consider some other factors when you do decide on one such as price and cost of upkeep for example. Remember that it always pay to do your homework before you may a spending decision.
