Goat belongs to a herd of animals that is why they need to have a companion always with them. So, if you are planning to buy, do not settle for one only and go for at least two as they tend to get lonely which could cause to sadness. If sadness would not go away they could become ill and may result to death. This may sound absurd but its true.

Food is its basic needs and the important thing when taking care of one. This is the sole reason why they grow and live. Alfalfa mix and eastern grass hay is the recommended food for them. However, if you had with you a wether or a buck that is older, feeding it with alfalfa must be eliminated as it may cause them urinary calculi.

For goats up to 12 months old, you can give it with corn oats, barley, and calf manna. If you would want to know the measurements in feeding these, you may search it up online. When planning to feed it with hay, make sure that it is fresh provided with clean water with the right amount of coldness.

It does not mean that everything is all good as long as you have a big field that they could run around. A shelter needs to be constructed as well. This shelter will be their place to rest when the weather is harsh like on a very hot summer days and heavy snow fall. Winter time is hard for them, so you must prepare the shelter before it arrives.

Enclosed shelter is what its supposed to be, so when winter comes the place is warm and cozy so snow could not come inside. It is important to build one since during these days they will not be able to run around freely at all times due to the cold.

Due to being enclosed dirt and dust would gather up inside the shelters. This could lead to bacteria present on the inside and could target easily the young ones. Cleaning the insides every day is one way of making sure that you will avoid such circumstances and to get rid of possible diseases.

You do not need a very big space with lots of green pasture to raise a goat. You would only need a space big enough for them. If there are less or no grass at all. Then, you can simply buy it from markets near you or any other places. This along with proper care and health supplies is what you only need in taking care of them.
