Sugar Glider Cage Arrangements

By John Smith

When you hear about an animal called to be sugar gliders and finally see what they look like, definitely you would agree and most perhaps that they would really need a cage or a small four corner home for living. In this case, given here is how to set up a cage to make your sugar glider feel lovely at home.

In the main, buy your own cage, about 24x24x36 inches high as a minimum for a pair of sugar gliders, nonetheless, larger is better if you can afford. At this time, make sure the wire spaces are no more than one by a half inch apart for vertical bars. A tall, large finch cage works well. Ensure that the door of the sugar glider cage is sufficiently huge to fit a nest box through.

Lay down the cage in a quiet part of the home, on a table top unless the cage is very tall. Make sure the cage is kept at a temperature of 18-24 Degrees Celsius, and out of straight sunlight. Additionally, attach clip-on bird dishes for food and water. A water bottle can be used, but provide a dish of water until you are sure that the sugar glider knows how to utilize it.

Along with, add a nest box or two, which can be wood, plastic, wicker, or a cloth pouch hung from the cage. A layer of corn cob bedding or aspen shavings to the bottom of the cage would be better. You do not need bedding in the nest box, but you can add a sleeping pouch or other soft cloth, just make sure there are no loose threads or loops that the glider could get caught up in. Provide fresh branches for climbing but avoid the ones that are pesticide treated woods. Also, add toys such as exercise wheel, ladders, and bells provided that there are no small parts that the glider could eat.

Finally, just two tips to remember, vertical space is very important to allow sugar gliders to climb and food dishes as well as nest boxes should be placed high up in the sugar glider cage, as that is where the gliders will be aware of the most comfortable piece for them.
