How to find healthy pets should be your utmost concern the moment you begin to consider having one for your pleasure. This goes to say that an unhealthy pet will spread dangerous illnesses to you and thereby cause health conditions that will grossly affect you. To avoid this, it is important to know the different kinds of pet diseases and their symptoms so as to steer clear from them when you see an animal with similar traits.

The first on the list is kidney disease. Kidney disease is peculiar to aged cats but this does not mean you cannot find it in the younger ones, and even in dogs. The sad story is that there are chances of an infected pet passing the disease on to its offspring. There are still some other cases that are not congenital.

Some diseases are better managed since they have the tendency to occur in several species; an example of such is diabetes. Diabetes occurs when there is excess glucose in the blood and this can take several years to be noticed. At old age, the body loses some of its capacity to convert the excess glucose in the blood. A veterinary doctor should be at hand anytime such a condition arises.

Some of the diseases are caused by pathogens transferred by fleas and ticks. Fleas and ticks hide in their fur, making it difficult for you to notice until they have accomplished their plans. This calls for regular cleaning and avoid them from going to places where they are prone to disease vectors.

Rabies infection is a serious case nobody should joke with. It has caused loss of lives in different places and the threat has not been wiped out even till today. It comes with signs such as bad postures, hallucination, agitation and confusion. The best way to manage this viral infection is by calling a doctor to immunize your pets while they are still tender.

Virus infection is also the cause of encephalitis. This condition is responsible for brain swelling, which is usually accompanied by intense pain. The source of this virus is from the mouth of an infected mosquito. The danger about this is that animals can easily transfer the same sickness to their owners by biting. Birds and horses suffering from this usually exhibit symptoms such as headache, fever, body weakness and pains.

Rabbit and poultry lovers are also at a risk of trading their health because of the possibility to contact pasteurellosis. This is a bacteria disease that affects the eye and lymph nodes, causing them to become enlarged. Cats can also develop this disease within their bodies and transfer it through bites. The effects of this disease in man include eye irritations and pneumonia.

The best way to avoid these diseases from infecting you and your loved pets is by seeking medication. It is important to ask for the help of a veterinary doctor at the point of purchasing the pet and also periodically after the pet becomes yours. It is not right to let your good intentions bring you bad luck so it is important to take precautions from the beginning.
