What Makes The Newfie Puppies Unique?

By John Ross

All of us who keep pets do so for many reasons. Some do so get rid of other pests, to run errands and also to keep them company. The most popular pets kept by man are parrots, fish, snakes, dogs, cats, and many others. The most unique thing about pets is their ability to keep friendship unlike people. Most pet owners grow attached to these creatures because of their ability to be loyal. Examples of loyal friends are the newfie puppies.

Sometime around the 1600s a rare breed was discovered in a place called Newfoundland. Initially they were quite few in number. Slowly they started becoming famous in European countries. The reason for this was simple; most dog owners were restricted to owning one dog at a time. As a result, they were quite few in number in their original countries. It is a mixture of many breeds but the most common one is the mastiff from Portugal and the Viking dogs. Slowly, they began growing popularity in other countries.

These puppies fall in the rare breed category because of the physical anatomy. They are a bit shorter than all the others described by a height of 56-76 cm. An average animal weighs between 50-69 kg but sometimes the weight may go up to 90kg. In addition, they have a broad head, small eyes, and triangular ears. The fur on their body is quite enormous and is similar to those of cats.

One major reason that led to their growing popularity was the ability to multitask back then. In fact, it is believed that one time they rescued the great ruler-Napoleon Bonaparte from his enemy called Elba. In addition, they were also used to pull heavy fishing nets and other rescuing equipment and rescuing sailors.

Another unique thing about these puppies is in their loyalty. Apart from humans, they also keep friendship in other animals. The pet owners need to be warned that whenever they feel uneasy, they can get quite angry and cause harm to their enemies.

This pet is very active in so many ways. Unlike other dogs, they love to swim. Hair on the body enables them to withstand very cold weather. In fact, they do not do well in areas of warm climate.

People, who may have an interest in adopting the puppy, can get information from dog owners who post the pictures of the dogs through the internet. Most of them are advised on the method of manner of treatment to ensure that the dog lives for long. They are only released to their new owners after they have reached a certain age that they have gained immunity.

Those who have these puppies in their categories can confess that the cost of keeping them is not a walk in the park. One needs to take into account the kind of surrounding that they are in. In other words, they only thrive well in places that are cool. Regular bathing and combing is also necessary to untangle the hair. If they are well fed and cared for, they can live up to fifteen years.
