By Henry Hamilton

There are signs that will tell you that your pet is reacting to allergens. Scratching or scooting across the floor and obsessive leaking are clear indicators. It may also sneeze or itch like human beings do. Some of these signs are difficult to note because they are seasonal. There are home remedies that provide allergy relief for dogs which reduces your expenditure and is easy to use.

The areas that mainly react to allergens are paws, face and eyes. They usually show redness that worsens with scratching. When paws are affected, they turn red as well. Allergies should be treated as soon as possible to prevent bacterial infections. Dog breeds that are heavily affected include beagles, Irish setters, shepherds, bulldogs, Dalmatians, retrievers, boxers and terriers. This is as a result of their genetics.

It is recommended that you see the family vet whenever you spot allergies. However, there are home remedies that will save you time and money without compromising the health of your dog. Vitamin E is as effective on dogs as it is on human skin. Rub your pet with vitamin E oil or bath it in water that has the vitamin added. There are pills prescribed by the vet depending on breed and age.

Sportsmen and pediatricians use flavorless electrolytes to replenish and rehydrate the body. These products are also as effective on dogs as they are on human beings. They provide great relief to the dog for a range of conditions. You should consult your vet to determine the right dosage and administration procedure.

Yogurt is preferred because it offers excellent bacterial balance to the stomach. This makes it effective in dealing with intestinal infections. It will help your dog escape yeast infections. Similar benefits can be obtained by administering acidophilus pills that are wrapped in bacon. Puppies whose immune systems are fragile will greatly benefit from this option.

Chamomile plants have natural healing effects and are effective on dogs as they are on humans. Chamomile tea further helps the dog to overcome anxiety, gas and colic. It also soothes the skin and provides immediate relief for minor irritation. You spray it on the affected skin while a warm tea bag can be used to sooth irritated or affected eyes.

Oatmeal has been used since time in memorial to treat irritating skins. It is finely ground and applied on the itching area. Ground oatmeal may also be stirred in water that the dog will use to bath. Warm water is the most effective for use in this manner. Oatmeal is also effective in providing immediate relief from other diseases and infections. This will keep the dog from scratching on every piece of furniture it comes across.

Fleas also cause irritation and allergic reactions which means that preventing them will provide an effective solution. Borax powder effectively deals with such pests. The powder does not harm human beings and is inexpensive to use. Citrus is also effective in repelling fleas and leaves them smelling fresh.
