One characteristic that makes it safe around kids is that it tends to paw at items rather than claw it like other cats do. Thus there really is no need to have it declawed to make it safer.

A long lived breed, expect to have many years of companionship and love with this breed. They can have a lifespan on average of fifteen to twenty years with the proper care and love. By ensuring that they stay inside the house most of the time, this will make the lifespan that much longer, as to avoid infections and scuffles with other animals.
