Reconsider These Things Before Becoming Siberian Cat Breeders

By Ryan Meyer

Owning a cat is one thing but breeding is nowhere near the scope of ownership alone. To venture in this activity is a feat. This is taking the love for a specific breed and making it into a full blown devotion. But who can blame cat lovers, these creatures are just so pure and adorable.

Most pure breeds have great temperament but would require a lot to maintain in mint, show worthy condition. Siberian cats make a great choice since they are very playful fluffy majestic angels. There are many great Siberian Cat breeders Georgia that has a great variety of Siberian cats.

Rarely do people get rich from raising kitties. This should not even be considered as a major career move. It is more of an expensive hobby but there are benefits to being reputable in the long run. The money spent on food, supplies, vet bills and so on is more likely to cost more than the income for a litter of fur balls. Breaking even does not happen often. This activity is solely for the love of Siberian cats.

The Siberian feline is a great choice to be a breed expert on. These felines are known for their beauty, great health and exceptional temperament. Know every detail that there is to know about the cattery one is planning to build. Pay close attention to their bone structure, bloodline and genetic history. It always pays to ask other breeders for advice.

Ask around for tips and expert knowledge from those who have been in the business for a while. They should know a thing or two that cannot be found on the books. Getting someone for mentorship can be a bit difficult though. Knowing these people is also a good move to grow ones network and credibility as a breeder.

Basic responsibilities include grooming, cleaning and feeding the litter. All these, and monitoring, especially with a pregnant feline can be an all day task. This will ensure that the creatures will remain healthy and pristine. Doing this prepares the felines for showmanship and purchase. Expect not to have time for going on long trips out of town.

Any cat owner knows that some damage is due to be inflicted to furniture and decorations at home. Casualties should be expected especially with the amount of fur that Siberian felines are known to shed. They tend to create a close bond with their owners by marking their territory in quite an unpleasant manner.

Do not buy too many felines to breed, as a beginner. One female should be enough to test the waters of breeding. One can always find a male of the same breed to mate the female. At the event that there is both male and female, separate them so the male cannot go to the female anytime he wants. This can result to too many kittens that may not be attended to.

The time involved in taking the female to a male can be quite daunting especially if the specific breed is not within the area. Some breeders require a fee to have a queen mate with their stud. There are medical procedures and blood tests the female needs to take for leukemia and cat AIDS.
