Discovering Rare Blue French Bulldog Puppies

By Kathleen Jackson

When it comes to puppies, generally all are cute. It is when the puppies start to grow into dogs that the color, size and traits become more noticeable. Adorable rare Blue French Bulldog Puppies are no exception to the rule. Although, while originally bred as Mastiffs, these puppies are now quite small in comparison.

Originally, the breed, often known as Frenchie originated in France. During the 1800s, the breed was cross-bred with rat terriers at which time it was also downsized into a 16-18 lb domestic dog. While smaller than the original, the breed still has traits related to the original. It should be noted that these dogs must be cleaned, and often drool both at home and away. As such, owners are often advised to carry a rag or towel so as to be able to wipe the drool away when it occurs.

Often known as Frenchie, for short, the breed originates from France. When looking at breed recognition, it is known as a non-sporting breed. Although, unlike all dogs, if obtaining as a pet, it is often preferred the owners have a dog neutered or spayed when at the appropriate age to do so.

In most cases, these pups are known as companion dogs and considered for domestic use. The breed originated when bulldog ancestors and rat dogs were crossbred in Paris in the 1800s. The new smaller version has most of ancestral traits of the larger ones. At the same time, these little pups can be overwhelmed when introduced to larger breeds. As a result, it is very important to always be present with these dogs when in contact with other dogs to provide any comfort which may be needed at the time.

These little dogs are now some of the most popular breeds in all areas of the world. For example, just this year, these dogs have rated the 3rd most popular breed in Australia, 4th in the United Kingdom and 6th in the United States according to dog registrations in these areas. As such, it is clear to see that the popularity of the breed remains strong and continues to grow over time.

The Blue French version were originally descended from British Molossian dogs which were bred as Mastiffs throughout ancient Greece. The Bullenbeisser, as it sounds was bred strictly for baiting bulls like the original English version. However, after the bans on bull-baiting and other games, it too was then reclassified as a domestic breed.

Whether descended from a French Bull Dog or Mastiff, these dogs all have a purpose. For some, it is to accompany an owner to a dog show to win Best In Show. For others, it is for companionship throughout the life of the dog. And, then there are those using the dogs in bull-baiting and dog fighting circles even though these activities are now against the law throughout most of the world.

Once the size had been reduced to sixteen to twenty-five pounds, the pups became household pets and show dogs. The ones performing in dog shows often weighed only twelve pounds as there were specific measures to make those smaller than the household pet that people know, love and own today.
