Information About Ragdoll Kittens TICA Registered

By Janet Hill

Ragdolls are possibly one of the most pretty and good natured of domestic cat breeds. Just like their namesake they are often carried around like dolls. They are usually more playful as kits and become more laidback as they grow older. Should you intend showing your cat or wish to ensure that your breeder is respected then you should to search for Ragdoll kittens TICA registered.

TICA is the International Association for Cat owners, breeders and anyone with an interest in felines. It holds registry of both domestic and pedigree cats as well as breeders, breed information and a wealth of related topics. They hold shows all over the world and work in local communities to help rescue animals and educate about cat welfare.

When you purchase a pet that is registered you know that your breeder is responsible and that the cat should be in the best of health. It should also conform to the breed standard if it is pedigree. Pet cats that are registered are also eligible to compete in shows, so even if your favorite kitten does not quite meet standard you can still enjoy the fun of showing.

Ragdolls are rather like Jacob and have a coat of many colors; ten colors in all are recognized as well as three main patterns. Colorpoint (one color on tips), Bicolor (two colors on face with white V) and Mitted (white paws like mittens) plus the rarer Lynx and Tortie patterns. They usually shed their silky coat twice a year and regularly grooming will keep this semi-longhair in top condition.

The range of colors is so varied that it covers nearly every hue you can imagine; blue, tabby, cinnamon and many more Whichever color the coat, their eyes are always bright blue like a clear sky; their eyes are one of the most distinctive features of this breed. With its stunning eyes, silky coat and beautiful markings this is one of the prettiest cats you can find.

Ragdolls are also known for their sturdy frame and large size. The queens can grow to up to 15lbs which is about 7 bags of sugar. The toms can get as large as 20lbs making them quite heavy for a small child to carry around. Their docile nature means they do not throw that weight around and will normally live happily alongside other pets including dogs.

While Ragdolls have a reputation for being so laidback they can be dressed in dolly clothes, it is worth remembering they are still an animal. They need to be treated kindly and children should not be encouraged to use them like toys. They are, if distantly, related to lions and retain the ability to scratch and bite.

If you have never owned this beautiful breed in the past then your breeder is a great person to ask about all aspects of the breed. Take their advice about training, feeding and grooming. They will ensure you are furnished with all the information you require and be happy to answer questions. Unless you intend to breed you will want to think about neutering or spaying. Consult your local veterinarian practice and then you need not worry about an accidental litter of kittens sired by a random Tom.
