Identify a Good Quality Yorkie Puppy

The Yorkshire terrier is a popular dog today and is the second most popular dog breed in the USA. And thus there are no problems in finding a great puppy. But at the same time you could get a mixed breed Yorkie puppy even without knowing this. Because of high competition dog breeders will do and say everything possible just to sell you one of their puppies.

And so it is crucial to know about the Yorkshire terrier before you start looking for Yorkie puppy. Primarily, it is important to look at parents of puppy. The Yorkshire terrier has an amount of other breed in its ancestry, however has been breeding true for about a century.

Everyone knows about the coat of Yorkshire terrier, however the color is the other standard and has to be blue and tan only. There could be some variations in the shade with some puppies having a darker shade of blue or tan or even both.

Bear in mind that no other color is found in the Yorkshire terrier and this is a reason why Yorkies have their color in their breed standard. This means that even if you have a pure bred puppy that is of another color you cannot register it as a Yorkshire terrier. But, piebald coloring could be occurred in Yorkshire terriers. Remember that piebald Yorkie has patches of white along with the blue and tan even if could be born in the same litter as normal Yorkies.

Another thing for you to bear in mind is that all Yorkshire terriers are born dark. They will have little tan and all puppies will have tan markings just on underside and muzzle feet. This coloring will slowly spread to reach the traditional color and making of the Yorkshire terrier. Besides, the dog could be born with a small white spot or patch in its chest.
