You may have been walking down the street when you came upon a sign. The sign says Egyptian Mau Kittens for sale, and this has perked your interest. You have been looking for a new pet anyway so why not get an Egyptian Mau.

The Egyptian Mau is one of the rare breeds of domesticated felines as it has naturally occurring spots making it look like a small spotted lynx or gray leopard. This little feline is probably the fastest of all domesticated breeds running as fast as thirty miles per hour compared to the cheetah speed of sixty miles per hour. When buying this breed, it will be like buying a miniature cheetah to play and take care of.

Many owners of this cat swear to the fact that this cat has springs for legs. It can ump very high and it is very rambunctious at times. Thus you need to have plenty of running and climbing space for this little kitty, devoid of any articles and objects that may easily be knocked down or broken. Expect that this kind of behavior to increase even when the cat has gone on in years.

Gentle and reserved, these cats need a lot of attention and in fact, the Mau craves attention. While still a kitten, socialize with him or her continuously with other people, especially if you want you Mau to travel extensively with you or for training for show purposes and competition. In general this cat can adapt to any house or home as long as there is plenty of love and care. They are also very friendly to strangers and will attempt to make friends with newcomers.

It is very easy to overfeed this cat breed and they can get used to it. Once they get used to it, they will actually not eat if given smaller amount. You should never equate giving food as giving love, for sometimes a cat will just need hugs and attention rather than something to eat.

Believe it or nor this cat can actually sing. When it is in a particularly good or happy mood it will chortle and chirp just like a small bird. It will also do this when it is curious about something, like an insect for example, which all cats love to play with.

In terms of breeding, these cats have one of the longest gestation periods for felines, lasting anywhere from sixty three to seventy days. However one should not worry if the gestation period reaches maximum for females easily give birth. One can definitely expect at least two litters a year if you have an active pair if you want to buy Maus for breeding and selling purposes.
