Tips For Buyers Of White Lab Puppies For Sale In California

By Minnie Whitley

Most people would love to own dogs, but it is not that easy. There are many reasons why people keep dogs, but they are mostly used for security and as pets. However, they are also used for sports and hunting among those who live in rural neighborhoods. While it is easy to come across white lab puppies for sale in California, it is important to acquire some important information before buying one.

Know the type of Labrador that is right for you. This is never a straightforward answer. If you want a hunting dog, for example, a Labrador from working lines may be the best option for you. However, you can still get a dual-purpose one, but very few breeders have such labs.

It is also important to consider the setup of your family before you buy a dog. Some families are set up in a way that does not make it conducive for keeping a dog. It is never good to have a puppy when you have children under the age of five. If you are expecting children, then you should wait until they are born and they are old enough.

Know that keeping a dog invites additional expenses that you may not be prepared for. There are health costs, veterinary services, food, and insurance that you will pay for over the lifetime of the dog. When you do the calculations, you will realize that there is a lot of money involved in the whole process.

Before you buy a Labrador, you must also ensure that you have adequate time to take care of it. If you are busy at work the whole day, then it would not make sense to bring a young puppy and leave it unattended for several hours. You have to commit to training and exercising the dog, which may not be possible if you are busy.

Ensure that the breeder registers the dogs with the Kennel Club. This does not guarantee that your puppy has the right qualities you are looking for, but it shows that the pub is a purebred. The inventory contains the DNA records of the parents, which shows if they are pedigree. This will confirm if there is any genetic contamination in the linage.

Buy your pup from a professional breeder. If you are looking for a pure breed, then avoid puppy farmers or pet shops, as they are largely unregulated, which means there is no way of determining the genetic makeup of the dog. A reliable breeder will provide all the required information regarding the breed and offer follow up services.

Puppies should only be sold when they are emotionally stable. When you place your order, ensure that the dog will be delivered after at least six weeks after birth. This ensures that they have had adequate time to wean naturally and to detach themselves from the mother. If adequate time is not given, they may die out of psychological trauma.

Never be in a hurry to buy a Labrador. Ensure that you have the right information regarding the behavior of the dog and its health and physical requirements. This will help you prepare the right environment for the puppy before its arrival.
