Great Homemade Dog Treats Your Dog Will Surely Pant After

By Geraldine Dimarco

Learn some of these fantastic homemade dog treats to have your pet fetch you your slippers every time you get home. Alright so maybe that's an exaggeration; but these tips on how to make dog treats will surely make you a hit to any beloved canine. The best part about it is they are pretty easy to make too.

Let's begin with the more savory treats shall we? If you are having chicken for dinner then it will be a perfect time to prepare your doggy's little snack items as well. Cut the chicken you can spare in little strips and spread them over a baking sheet with plenty of cheese sprinkled on top of them. Bake them in a pre-heated oven of about 110 C until it becomes crisp. Let it cool and it's ready to be served.

You can also put a beef heart or liver in boiling water and allow it to simmer for about two hours. By then it should be thoroughly cooked and ready. Remove from water and slice the organ meat into bite sized treats. Put these in an air tight container and freeze until you need it. Ensure that it is completely defrosted before serving to the eager puppy lest he suffers from indigestion and an iced jaw.

If organ meat or chicken are not available, hot dogs are great and cost efficient canine treats as well. Slice these edible dogs into ready to eat pieces and microwave them in the oven until they obtain a tougher consistency. Keep them with you anytime for those ready snacks you can give your pet. For those pet owners who hold the dog treats in between their teeth, these nibbles are fantastic snacks.

Looking for some dessert items? Blend in 2 Tbsp of honey with 2 cups of water, an egg and 1/2 tsp of vanilla in a bowl. Empty a small jar of applesauce and mix all the ingredients well. In another bowl, combine 4 cups of flour, 1 Tbsp nutmeg powder and 1 Tbsp baking powder. Pour out the ingredients of the first bowl into the second and blend until smooth and lump free. Scoop out spoonfuls of this batter onto prepared cookie sheets and bake at 350 F for one hour. Remove from oven and let cool in the wire rack. This recipe is for 12 servings; not hardly enough once your pet gets a taste of this.

You can put in or take out certain ingredients - whatever you think will appeal to your dog the most. However, keep in mind that there are food that are dangerous when ingested by canines so research on this carefully first. Some ingredients to avoid are chocolates, grapes, raisins and most kinds of nuts. Verify your planned recipes with the vet to be sure.

When you do your best to learn how to make dog treats, you are sending a message that you care and want only the best for your pet. Your pet is lucky to be under the shadow of your house and with these added treats, being happy and obedient will be second nature to him.
