Kill Fleas And Ticks With Frontline Plus

By Ray Hauser

A local dog came by recently infested with fleas and ticks. This poor animal was covered in blood sucking parasites. We normally wouldn't interfere with someone else's dog, but we decided to take action. We sprayed flea and tick killer on the irritated pet which quickly killed a lot of the crawling bugs, but it was difficult to know if we got them all.

A few weeks later, the roaming dog returned and was once again covered in ticks and fleas. We didn't dare spray him again, so he eventually tramped off with his vermin passengers.

Frontline Plus for dogs and cats is a much better approach to protecting your pet from flea and tick infestation. It is a nonprescription medication readily available over the counter and considered to be the number one choice for veterinarians in flea and tick control. One monthly application can keep your pet vermin free for up to thirty days. Adult fleas are dead within twelve hours and all ticks are dead within forty-eight hours. Frontline Plus also kills flea eggs and larvae ensuring that your pet won't have to deal with the next generation of pests.

Frontline Plus works against all the major tick groups including the deer tick which carries Lyme disease. Ticks also carry other diseases including Babesiosis, Rocky Mountain spotted fever and Ehrlichiosis.

One flea can produce a thousand offspring in just a few weeks. And flea bites can also cause diseases such as Tapeworm, Anemia, Flea Allergy Dermatitis and Rickettsiosis.

Fleas and ticks can hide just about anywhere. You should keep your pet's bedding area clean and make your yard less flea friendly by keeping the grass short and getting rid of any brush piles.

Fipronil and S-Methoprene are the active ingredients in Frontline Plus. Fipronil destroys the nervous systems of parasites causing quick death. Methoprene regulates growth and it kills flea eggs and larvae. The topical medication is absorbed by the sebaceous glands. It then leaks slowly into the skin of your dog providing steady twenty-four hour protection for at least a month.

Frontline Plus comes in several dosage levels depending on the weight of your cat or dog. Frontline Plus is applied monthly. Avoid water or bathing for twenty-four hours after the application. Do not apply to pets under eight weeks old.

It is easily applied to your pet through a sealed applicator. To apply Frontline Plus, simply part the fur between the shoulder blades and empty the contents of the applicator onto the skin. The medication is absorbed by the skin and dries rapidly. Frontline Plus is very effective and will keep your pet parasite free for at least a month.
